Context

I'm gonna be real, I actually have no idea where this came from... LMAO. It actually all started when I wanted to make an avatar as depicted below and I ended up loving it so much that he ended up becoming the design for a bonafide OC (lame I know). I really liked the idea of using Knight of Despair's E.G.O suit and making a sort of "vagabond" or "knight" attire based around it, which ties into Kamui's backstory as well.

His outfit does change slightly once he joins LCCB, wearing their uniform instead, but a few items such as the cape and hairpin remain. I also really liked the idea of giving him a Distortion for Library of Ruina given his story (which relates heavily to the Abnormality he is themed after) and I honestly really wanted to know what it would be like if one of the Assistant Librarians or even one of the Patron Librarians actually decided to physically revolt against Angela for causing the White Nights and Dark Days and her actions in Library of Ruina. I guess that's what fanon is for though lol...

Story

Kamui was always a very reserved individual, never talking to many people and always distancing himself from his peers. As a Nest-born child, he always felt guilty for the Backstreets dwellers, often wishing that he could've taken their place so he could understand the true extent of their suffering. Though his parents were often away at work for K-Corp, he spent his alone time studying various subjects—primarily things related to the inner workings of the City. His dream growing up was to follow in his parents' footsteps, wanting to work for a large corporation and make a name for himself and driven by the desire to make a change in the City for the better. He was a humanitarian, believing that everyone in the City deserves a fair chance at living a comfortable life, even though he knows that that is far from the reality. As he got older, he learned about Fixer Offices and Associations, causing him to take a great interest in them during his adolescent years. Though he hated fighting, the Backstreets was the subject of his attention the most, and this was the biggest driving factor in his aspirations. One day, in his adult years, he found out that a large power-generation corporation in L-Corp was hiring employees, and of course Kamui decided to shoot his shot, wanting to make his parents proud and cement himself in the history of the City. This corporation was Lobotomy Corporation, and he was accepted and hired to work for the Central Command Department. Unfortunately, he soon realized that this company was not at all what he had hoped it would be—and certainly not anything like K-Corp. He tries to get through each day the best he can despite his current situation, but by day 34, his calm demeanor soon gives way to despair and self-loathing, believing himself to be a disgrace to his parents for allowing himself to get tied up with such a company which seemed to only bring suffering. In his eyes, he was a failure and a traitor to everything he believed in. The boy who sought hope had succumbed to his own pit of despair once he had opened his eyes to the reality of the underside of the City.

When working with Knight of Despair, a WAW-class Abnormality, he seemed to resonate with it heavily, as they both went down similar paths, including their inevitable fall into despair. He felt guilty about it, and the fact that they were quite literally exploiting it for PE-Boxes. At some point, he acquires Knight of Despair's E.G.O suit, "The Sword Sharpened with Tears," and he fashions an outifit in a similar vein to the abnormality. As if somehow inspired by it, he held a somewhat knightly aura whose sorrow, hatred, and rage festered underneath his quiet and stoic demeanor; but he wouldn't act upon it, not yet. Though, by the time Angela had stolen the light and caused the White Nights and Dark Days incident, when the Sefirah clashed against her and Binah, all of the Abnormalities in the facility were released, leading to Kamui's death.

In Library of Ruina, Kamui would not be revived until Tiphereth's floor, the Floor of Natural Sciences, would be unlocked, as he had worked for her and Tiphereth B back in Lobotomy Corporation. Unlike Tiphereth, Kamui held a constant, festering hatered towards Angela for everything she had done, and after realizing the reason for his death and Tiphereth B's disappearance, this hatred reached a boiling point. However, as Angela was an Artificial Intelligence, he could not act against her, not at the moment. It wouldn't be until the Library becomes a Star of the City that he would plot his rebellion, as Angela was becoming more and more human as more guests were received and turned into books.

It happened suddenly, but it was inevitable; when Kamui's hatred and despair consumed him entirely, he distorted, becoming a massive, grotesque beetle-like creature with a carapace and strands the color of the galaxy and horrifically elongated and crooked insect legs with sharp claws. His distortion shares a few similarities with Knight of Despair, impaled by rapiers, and it almost looked like he was crying. He attacked moments after distorting and losing all control of himself—a stark contrast to his previous behaviour—attempting to reach Angela and kill her, only to be stopped by his own coworkers. After a long, grueling fight, he was ultimately felled, turning into just another book to the Library's seemingly endless collection and marking his second death. He would not be revived for a second time until the true ending of Library of Ruina, when he would awaken somewhere in the City, where the Library had been banished from.

He is mostly unaware of what happened to the Library or Angela after he awakens, as he was dead/booked from Star of the City to when Library of Ruina would end in the canon. But he takes the time to reflect on his actions, and ultimately heal from his own trauma and despair. Though he feels a deep sorrow for the inner workings of the City and the way of life there, he carries on, aspiring to find a constant in life while seeking a way to help the lives of others. Once a Nest-dweller, he now spends his time in the Backstreets to understand the pain and suffering of the City-dwellers, learning more about the world around him and the various offices and associations and eventually landing a job with Limbus Company, working for their Before Team (LCCB) department. He helps the Sinners of the Bus Department (LCB) by scouting out locations and planning missions for them to retrieve Golden Boughs. He becomes slightly more talkative here, as per his job, but his reserved and seemingly-deadpan demeanor remains mostly unchanged.
